Insurance topics to be covered will be in these 3 broad areas:
Life Insurance: This pays a death benefit. This will cover issues relating to all types of Life Insurance whether Term or Permanent, group Insurance (offered through your employer) or Individually purchased. Also issues of interest for Small Business owners (SBO).
Disability Insurance: Disability is a condition when a person is unable to work for short or extended periods of time due to Injury or medical sickness. This will cover Short-term (typically for 12 months or less duration) and Long-term disability (typically more than 2 years or up-to age 65 or age 67, whether offered through an employer (group) or Individual policy purchased by the person (insured). Also issues related to Small business owners.
Health and Dental Insurance: To pay for medical coverage, dental coverage, hospital stays, preventive visits, health and wellness exams, etc. This could be through an employer, or purchased for families/individuals. Also how Small Business owners can offer coverage to themselves and their employees.

I am considering taking a long term disability plan but I am afraid if I am receiving benefits on long term disability how will it impact my future employment prospects? Any comments on this?
How much roughly I will be paying for a long term disability? I mean will be in hundreds like a term insurance or less?

Generally speaking, buying a long term disability (LTD) policy should not impact your employment prospects.
If you are currently disabled, you cannot buy a LTD policy. No insurance company will offer you coverage.
If currently disabled, regarding seeking new employment, it will depend on the employer's screening process.
The cost for a LTD policy depends on various factors such as age, sex (male or female), occupation of applicant, terms of the LTD policy such as duration, Cost of living riders, waiting period and so on. Generally speaking, LTD policies are not cheap, you need to speak to a licensed Financial advisor/Insurance agent to get a quote.
